Chocolate Chocolate and Chocolate!!! The Chocolate Festival in Brighton!!!!

Brighton a town that loves to host and organise little festivals here and there.
This weekend (16-17 April 2011) a beautiful and definitely one of my favourite festivals is the CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL.

If you are a chocolate fan then you have to go there. Last chance is tomorrow (Sunday).
As you can see on the picture above they do not sell normal chocolate but rather have some different forms, structure, and flavours.

One of my favourites was the RAW CHOCOLATE. That was amazing! It does not contain sugar or dairy. Sounds boring ??? NOT AT ALL! Delicious chocolate that gives you a real taste of Cocoa the chocolate fruit.
This is what is said about it by RawLiving :

The cacao bean is what all chocolate is made from. We take the finest quality cacao and add it to healthy fats, low-glycaemic sweeteners, and medicinal doses of superfoods to create the most ridiculously wonderful chocolate you can imagine. We were the first people to make raw chocolate bars in the world, and we think you’ll taste the difference.

Check their page for more information Raw Living.

There are also other delicious sweet products. For example, very big apple strudels, chocolate/ almond twirls etc.

So if you need a break of your studies this festival gives you a great opportunity to socialise, get some fresh air and sweeten your tooth with quality and innovative products.

The festival is located in New Road, Brighton close to the Brighton Dome and the Royal Pavillion. Here is a map that helps you to find it:

Lectures but u have this very cheap flight...

You probably have had the situation before, where you have finally the money to travel but no time because your lecture clashes with a cheap travel opportunity.

Don't worry there is always a solution and a way.:)

Try and book a flight/train/coach ticket for the night times OR early mornings. Those times are always cheaper and you could safe time by traveling during the night/early mornings without missing any lectures.

From Brighton http://www.nationalexpress.co.uk/. offers a great service. Nonstop to Stansted airport for example (1am leave). It gets you to London Stansted on time for the early flights.

Another cheap bus company is http://www.megabus.co.uk/
If you book tickets in advance you even can get prices like £2 oneway.

If you want to book a train go and  check http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ BUT don't book through them. Look up which traincompany you want to use (e.g. Southern Railway ) and go directly to their company page. You will see that they have even cheaper tickets!

Extra info about train travel
If you find out that you are a frequent train user buy and get your 16-25 Railcard. This gives you the chance to save 1/3 of the usual travel fee. I got one myself and I renewed the railcard 3 times (valid always for a year). It makes sense to get it if you are a frequent traveler. Even a short journey from Brighton to London makes it worth it.

So as you can see it is all manageable.
Right now I am  on the bus myself and I even had time to meet up with friends beforehand for a couple of "after-uni-group-work-drinks".

Try it yourself!

Discovery And Adventure - The University Start!

How exciting! The first blog post here. Hi there!:)

I should be introducing myself at this point in time. .....I am a university student living in Brighton, love photography and have a brother and a sister,.....Zzzzzz.... I am not gonna go down that route. I rather reveal more about who I am properly throughout the blogging process. However, if you can't wait for it (for whatever reasons) read up on me in the"about me" section. :)

Let's get started and give you a great insight into uni life and other important things that you need to know. What makes those insights so cool??? You get unique and real information from a student-ME! So, I will be d-a-m-n honest! OOPS!

That's the situation:
You have applied for various universities; you have received a few offers and you decided to go to the one based in Brighton, East Sussex.
Well, congratulations!

One thing is sure.....you have just decided to study in a friendly, creative, vibrant and dynamic environment with a lot of opportunities for your self-development and education.

Great times are ahead. I better give you some tips and tricks in how to get started and how to get the most of your new life!

Follow these easy steps and you will be living the dream:

Step1: Use the first weeks in uni to socialise (as much as possible, while you still can)!
This is essential if you want to make friends in your new environment. Get yourself out there. Don't worry if you are more of a quiet and shy person. Usually there will be introductory sessions and events in the evening that everyone attends. This makes it easier to connect with others and you will see that you soon find your classmates/flatmates introducing you to some people you haven't known before.
So make sure you attend all events if you don't want to miss out!

Step 2: Sign up for uni societies or clubs.
An easy way to get to know new people is to join a society or a club.
This gives you the advantage of meeting people with the same  interests like you. Additionally, you could start a new hobby and try out a new sport that you may have not done before. Be experiential! Don't forget...the first weeks are the most important ones!!!!

You may as well check out the Student Union website for more activities and infos:

Step 3: Discover Brighton!
Don't get stuck in your room while there is so much to see. Go and explore your new environment! This could be a real adventure. Brighton has a lot to offer and many beautiful hidden and unique places that you may enjoy. Here are some of my favourites (please add your favourites too!!!)

This is it for now.
Hope you enjoyed my first little post and guidance for Brighton uni life. You are welcome to leave comments and feedback!
